Acceleration speed test revealed that Tesla is faster than a Porsche
Nobody is certain how sports car-maker Porsche is taking the news. It is nonetheless a hard strike on the face when a recent acceleration shoot-out conducted by American automobile magazine Motor Trend revealed that a Tesla is faster than a Porsche. The Tesla Model S P100D, a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive sports sedan that is touted to have the capacity to cover over 500 kilometres on a single charge, has won the honour of being the first production car in the world to reach 100 kilometres per hour in less than 2.3 seconds (actual time is 2.275507139 seconds!). When the P100D was set at the “Easter Egg” ludicrous mode, it surprised Motor Trend, attaining 100 kilometres per hour faster than the 911 Turbo S. According to Motor Trend’s results, the Model S reached 50 kilometres per hour 0.05 seconds ahead of the 911 Turbo S. The P100D also held a 0.2-second lead from 100 kilometres per hour through 150 kilometres per hour. Eventually, both cars crossed the quarter-mile mark together at 10.5 seconds. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, announced in November last year that the Easter Egg would allow the P100D to reach 100 kilometres per hour in 2.4 seconds. He also added that the P100D would reach the quarter-mile mark in 10.6 seconds at the time. The independent test by Motor Trend was a strong testament to Tesla’s claims.
