Chrysler’s Chery Cure?
Chrysler seems to have had their toes dipping in a little hot water lately, with DaimlerChrysler having put them up for sale in February and having a negligible amount of interest from the industry. They already even have a partnership with Chery to produce cars.

The Welt am Sonntag, a German newspaper, reported that sources in the loop have said that DaimlerChrysler could get “between $6 to $9 billion dollars”, whereas private equity firms have placed numbers in the region of $5 billion.
Chrysler, which is the US’s no. 4 manufacturer, and also oversees the Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge brands, was put up for sale in February, when DaimlerChrysler Chief Executive Dieter Zetsche announced that they were keeping options open for the division.
Meanwhile, Chrysler and Chery have been making interesting announcements about new cars, such as the bullet-proof Eastar, a Chinese-made Dodge Hornet, which will go on sale in the US, and also the S12, which is planned for the South American and Eastern European markets, though the Chinese market will get priority of its sales once it enters production.
According to Automotive News, word has surfaced that the new car built by Chery, will be based on the Hornet Concept. However, a final agreement has yet to be signed. Also expected some time next year is the MINI-sized S12.
Meanwhile, Chery is expected to showcase an excessive 30 cars, including three concepts, at the 2007 Shanghai Auto Show, one of which will be the Shooting Sport Concept.
