[B]• Previous records smashed, BMW brand achieves 18 percent growth in Singapore • BMW cars achieve leadership in all model segments • BMW 7 Series the luxury segment leader for 4th consecutive year [/B] SINGAPORE – For the first time ever, BMW is the leading premium car brand in Singapore. The brand has established a decisive lead over the competition in 2005 with 3458 cars sold. This is an increase of 18 percent compared to 2004. At the same time, a total of 165 MINI cars were sold in 2005. Launched in May last year, a total of 561 units of the new generation 7 Series were sold, in the process becoming once again – for the fourth consecutive year in Singapore - the segment leader. Revisions to the 5 Series, including a new line of 6-cylinder engines and some interior trim changes, saw it become a runaway sales success, clocking 1334 units. The new BMW 3 Series continued the successful trend: previewed in late March and launched to the public in mid-April 2005, sales of the new model flowed quickly, with 1123 sold.

The section of Orchard Road between Scotts Road and Bideford Road will be closed to traffic from Sunday, 25 December 2005, 2.00pm to Monday, 26 December 2005, 1.00am, for the "Celebrate Christmas In Singapore 2005" event. The section of Mount Elizabeth between Nutmeg Road and Orchard Road (towards Orchard Road) will also be closed. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
