FIA yet to approve a night race in Singapore
While Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has already been busy preparing details like lighting for next year’s proposed night race in Singapore, FIA president Max Mosley has insisted that it has yet to give the go ahead for any such race.

Although still very concerned about the crucial safety aspects of a night race, in an already risky street circuit, the FIA head did not hint at a high chance of a “no”.
“There is still no criteria for it,” Mosley said, explaining that if a formal request for night racing is ultimately made, it could be the decision of the World Council to sanction or disallow it.” He also added, “We will not sanction night racing if it does not fulfill all of the safety conditions.”
Whilst some might argue that the streets of Monte Carlo are far from the usual safer venues, Mosley argues that it plays a very important role in the world of Formula One.
“Only Monaco,” Mosley said, “is the exception. Monaco has been a part of formula one for 70 or 80 years,” he explained, “but we can’t tear down the buildings so that the run-off distances are better. New city courses (however) must fulfill the same criteria as any other circuit, in terms of safety.”
"One mustn't underestimate the logistics, the degree of lighting that will be necessary for really good television coverage, the cost, the complications and all the things that go with it. But that's not really our problem; all we would be concerned about would be the safety aspect."
Mosley also added that despite all the talk, and Bernie’s insistence that a night race will take place, there has been no official application put forth yet for a night race for 2008.
