Rumour that Hong Seh was losing the Ferrari distributorship to Komoco have finally been proven to be true - Komoco Motors has officially been chosen by Ferrari to be their official agent here in Singapore.

Prior to this major change, Hong Seh was the Italian brand's only official representative here for the last 25 years.

Industry speculators had long suspected that Mr. Ong Beng Seng - widely credited for bringing Formula One to Singapore - was the likely candidate to gain the Ferrari distributorship. Ferrari is widely known to have very close ties to Formula One.

Before the official announcement, other names mentioned in the running for the distributorship included Premium Automobiles (Audi's official dealer), Mr. Karsono Kwee's Stuttgart Auto (Porsche's official dealer) and Mr. Andy Goh, brother of Eurosport Auto's Mr. Melvin Goh. The latter owns the Lamborghini franchise in Singapore.

Komoco Motors is the current dealer for Hyundai and Chrysler, and is expected to market and sell the Ferrari marque under a different company name.
