Locally, it has also taken the top place for having sold the most number of cars in the luxury segment, with a total of 4,102 units registered in 2007.

The full-sized limousine class saw at least 850 units of the S-Class sold, as well as 1,849 units of the E-Class – outgunning sales figures of its nearest rival by nearly 10 percent.

Its Commercial Vehicles Division shared equally good sales as well last year, reaching 289,976 vans sold globally, an increment of 12.5 percent from 2006 and achieving a new sales record high.

Commenting on the remarkable market performance, Dr Rainer Thiel, President and CEO of Daimler South East Asia Pte. Ltd, said, “The success factor is due to our customers who appreciate our brand values and product line-up. They can continue to expect more fascinating vehicles from Mercedes-Benz that will meet even the highest expectations in terms of quality, safety, comfort and performance.”
