Designed to significantly enhance the performance of the MINI Cooper S’s 1.6-litre, twin scroll turbocharged, direct injection motor, intensive analysis of the car’s advanced MED17 engine management system by Superchips in-house technicians pinpointed a number of areas that required fine tuning.

The end result of this process is a thoroughly tested ECU remap which optimises ignition timing, fuelling and turbo boost parameters and was validated using Superchips chassis dynomometer, allied to a comprehensive road testing program.

So how much performance does a Superchips remapped Cooper S gain? Peak power increases by 20bhp at peak (up to 195bhp from a measured 175bhp,) with an extra 22bhp in the mid range, significantly boosting the day to day performance of hottest production MINI.

Pleasingly, torque leaps from a measured 256Nm (187lb.ft) to a healthy 282Nm (206lb.ft,) with well over 250Nm (183lb.ft) available from 2500rpm to 5250rpm, highlighting the improved flexibility of the Superchips upgraded MINI Cooper S. The chip is designed for use with regular 95 octane forecourt petrol.

Suitable for all MY2006 onwards R56 MINI Cooper S models, Superchips new performance remap is available now, priced at £445.00 (S$1024)
