Refreshed Porsche Taycan Will Be An Absolute Beast
Hang on tight - pre-series Taycan is 26 seconds faster on the Nordschleife than the current version.
Porsche development driver Lars Kern achieved an impressive lap time of 7:07.55 minutes at the Nürburgring while driving a pre-series Taycan. This official time is a remarkable improvement of 26 seconds compared to his previous record set in a Taycan Turbo S Sport sedan with a performance package in August 2022.
“Twenty-six seconds is half an eternity in motorsport. Lars’ lap time of 7:07.55 minutes on the Nordschleife is sensational, putting the Taycan in the same league as electric hypercars,” says head of the model line, Kevin Giek. “And the impressive thing about it is that over several laps, Lars clocked almost exactly the same time.”
The pre-series Taycan, was 25 km/h faster at Schwedenkreuz section, resulting in a distance of over 1.3km ahead by the finish line. This highlights a notable performance leap on the 20.8km Nürburgring course. An onboard video of the lap will be released in mid-March.
Will there be a new Taycan in 2024?
A facelift should arrive in 2024, although we have to wait for more concrete information. Judging by this blistering lap time, could we be looking at the new Taycan Turbo GT? Or they could just be getting started - this timing for a mid-spec facelifted Taycan might not be a distant dream after all...
