Borneo Motors Singapore has launched the 2025 ‘Dual Hero Project’, a collaboration between Toyota Singapore, Global Team Toyota athlete Toh Wei Soong, and LASALLE College of the Arts to create functional, inclusive fashion for people with diverse needs.

Born from Toyota’s Start Your Impossible initiative, the project now stands as an independent platform promoting inclusivity and human-centred design. This year, Toh Wei Soong serves as Industry Mentor, drawing from his experience as a para athlete and advocate to guide students toward practical, mobility-focused design solutions.

The project reflects Toyota’s broader mission to make mobility about more than movement. It has now expanded to opportunity, expression and accessible experiences. Toyota is also renewing its partnership with Singapore Fashion Runway, whose beneficiaries take the runway as models for the new LASALLE collection, showcasing their creativity while developing confidence and essential life skills.

Guided by Toh Wei Soong, LASALLE fashion students designed pieces that address real dressing challenges faced by people with disabilities. They focused on improving comfort, independence, and dignity, developing solutions such as magnetic clasps, braille-inspired embroidery and forms suited for one-handed dressing.

The resulting collection shows how emerging designers can turn empathy and user insight into practical, inclusive fashion.

A standout look by Abinaya D/o Muthuraja, modelled by Wei Soong, features magnetic buttons, an open-back top and pants for easier seated dressing, and sleeves that convert into a bag for wheelchair users. The design embodies an inclusive approach where functionality, adaptability and style work together to reflect diverse bodies and experiences.

A chosen textile artwork from the students will be turned into a custom wrap for the New Corolla Cross. Both the full fashion collection and the specially wrapped vehicle will be exhibited at Toyota World, 33 Leng Kee Road, from now until 14 December.
