What looks like the official "Safety car" for one of the MPT Kallang Carpark Sprint events, this will be the the new Mazda 2 that will be on sale in Singapore come October.
A quick check with Mazda reveals that the new "2" will be ready to go in just a little bit, and will retail from $56,988 for the basic 5 speed manual transmission.
A new 1.5 litre engine will be under the bonnet, generating 103ps (EEC) and 137nm at 4000rpm, and will be mated to a choice of either a 4 speed automatic or a 5 speed manual.
The Mazda 2 will come in two levels of trim - an "R-Grade" (the higher spec variant)and the basic "V-Grade".
The "R-Grade" gets 16 inch alloys, 6 airbags, a full bodykit including a sportier grille, front bumper, side skirts, a roof spoiler, and an MP3 enabled 6-CD changer.
The "V-Grade" on the other hand, makes do with 15-inch alloys and twin driver/passenger airbags and a single disc MP3 player.
Mazda will be giving away 3 additional items for the first 200 units sold, for both "R" and "V" Grades. They are:
-Chrome tail-pipe extension
-Visor for windows
-Interior scuff plate
