World record smashed on World Guinness Records Day!
Russ Swift did it again! The victory was even sweeter as the record was broken on 9th November – the official World Guinness Record Day. In 2004, stunt performer Russ Swift made 10 complete revolutions with a car (also known as Doughnuts) in just 16.07 seconds, making it a mere 1.6 seconds for one complete revolution, winning him a place in the Guinness World Record. This record was broken in January 2006 at 14.81 seconds. Today, Russ attempted to improve the timing. At the third attempt, he clocked 14.59 seconds. This was achieved using an unmodified Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Russ attempted the stunts in front of more than 100 specially-invited media and spectators at an exclusive performance at the Singapore Motorshow 2006. The stunt was filmed by ESPN and witnessed by two official adjudicators.

“The response from the crowd was tremendous! I missed the first two attempts by seconds and finally did it at the third attempt. This achievement is an acknowledgement for the work and support for all at Subaru and Motor Image especially the engineers and mechanics of the stunt team. The entire experience was simply exhilarating!” says Russ.
Russ started out as a stunt performer in 1985 when he realized an increasing demand for this type of entertainment. He made the leap of faith from participating in international motorsport rallying to stunt car driving. In 1987, Russ was asked to insert some interesting manoeuvres into a TV commercial, which was later featured at the Cannes Film Festival and voted the world's most imaginative car commercial in the World.
Since then, Russ has established himself as the world's number one precision driver with numerous TV commercials and car launches to his credit. His work engagements have brought him all over the world from Indonesia to Taiwan and even to Korea, Egypt and Holland. At the same time, Russ has been invited to perform at the Scottish, Ulster, British and New York motorshows.
Russ’ very first and deepest passion lies with classic cars and motorcycles. He currently resides in Darlington, England and has two children – Jayne who is 25 years of age, and Paul, 27, who has followed in his father’s “tyre tracks” and won the British Autotest Championship in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
