So, can the Volvo C30 hold a candle to the Volkswagen Golf GTI? In terms of handling capabilitites and outright performance, I must say a flat no, for the latter is obviously the more able handler of the two. It simply corners flatter, handles better, and rides more capably than the former. Well, it seems like the “King of hot-hatches” throne will remain in the Golf GTI’s favour for a long, long time to come. That said, the C30 is actually not that far off the GTI's tail - it has a respectable engine that does its job well and in a more refined manner when compared to the Golf GTI, and being a 5-cylinder unit, somehow does the job quicker off the mark.

Aesthetically, the C30 has the upperhand. Firstly, it looks more prominent at a carpark all thanks to the body that's designed with much modern cues. If you want to be seen and be remembered for being the driver of a designer car, then the Volvo's a perfect choice for you. Its sporty good looks, stylish interior and comfortable cabin will ensure that you are the envy of your friends, and I'm pretty sure there's bound to be people eagerly waiting to hitch a ride in the car.

So as you can see, there are no real winner or loser here.
