Local News: Volkswagen launches the junior Golf GTI
Volkswagen today held a preview of the long awaited Polo GTI for the media at the Marina Bay Golf Club.
The Golf GTI's baby brother is powered by the familiar twincharged 1.4-litre TSI lump that also powers the Golf and Jetta Sport models. The Polo's lump though, has been tuned for 180bhp and 250Nm and when mated to the standard 7-speed DSG gearbox, translates to a 0-100km/h time of 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 229km/h.
Externally, the hot Polo can be differentiated from lesser models via its typical GTI styling tweaks like the 17-inch Denver alloys, honeycombe inserts for the front grille and bumper intakes as well as the red trim on the grille among other changes.
Volkswagen is breaking new ground for the market launch of the Polo GTI in Singapore. It will be presented to customers exclusively on the internet. Both three and five-door models are offered with the latter priced at $118,800 including COE.
