Phantoms at the Peninsula
The Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong has made the single largest purchase with Rolls-Royce motorcars, renewing its fleet of limousines with 14 new extended wheelbase Phantom models.

The Phantoms for the landmark hotel in Hong Kong are painted in the signature ‘Peninsula Green’ and have been customized with special features for the Peninsula. The switches for the rear air-conditioning have been moved to the rear armrest, and subtle details like the screws around the luggage compartment have been countersunk to minimize damage to luggage. The rear passengers also have a special chilled box for hand towels, and the capacity of the luggage compartment is larger than the standard Phantom. There is also a bespoke15-speaker 420-watt Lexicon sound system, and DVDs can be watched on twin 12-inch screens integrated into the fold-down picnic tables.
Each Phantom has taken 350 hours to build, and 25 Rolls-Royce designers and engineers were involved in the project.
The Peninsula Hotel has used Rolls-Royce limousines since 1970, and has had a tradition of setting new records for its Rolls-Royce purchases. In 1976, it purchased eight Silver Shadows; in 1980, nine Silver Shadow IIs; in 1987, eight Silver Spirits; in 1994, nine Silver Spur IIIs and one 1934 Phantom II; in 1995, another nine Silver Spurs; and another four in 1998 and 2004.
The hotel’s team of chauffeurs have undergone a week of training at the Sir Henry Royce Training School, and the owner’s operating handbook has been translated to Cantonese for the Peninsula’s new fleet of Phantoms.
