Road Traffic Closures/Arrangements for Singapore 2006
TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS FOR S2006 Police will ensure the safe and smooth running of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group Annual Meetings (S2006) that will be held in Singapore from 11 to 20 Sep 2006. Comprehensive security measures will be put in place at Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre and other event venues and hotels in the vicinity during this period. Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre will be closed to public from 8 to 20 Sep. Suntec City Shopping Mall and the office buildings will remain open to the public.

Traffic Arrangements - Road Closures
To facilitate security measures and the movement of delegates, there will be road closures and traffic diversions around the Suntec City and Marina Bay area. Nicoll Highway, Raffles Boulevard and Temasek Boulevard will be closed from 10pm on 10 Sep to 11.59pm on 20 Sep 2006. In addition, North Bridge Road will be closed from 12pm to 7pm on 16 Sep 2006. Certain lanes along several roads such as Bras Basah Road, St Andrew's Road, Coleman Street, Stamford Road, Beach Road, Raffles Avenue, and Esplanade Drive will also be closed during certain periods of the event. Please see Annex A for details of closures and alternative routes.
Other changes to traffic arrangements may be necessary during S2006. The public can log on to www.Singapore2006.org or www.spf.gov.sg or tune in to the broadcast stations for the latest updates and details.
Access to these roads will be limited to authorised vehicles. Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced. Vehicles found parking indiscriminately and/or causing obstruction will be towed away. Police officers will be deployed to assist the public.
Public Advisories
To allow motorists to plan their journey well ahead, street signs will be put up on road closures, diversions and alternative routes near the affected locations from tomorrow.
Closer to the event, the information will also be displayed on EMAS and Variable Messaging System boards. Pamphlets containing a detailed map of the road closures and diversions will be available at various petrol stations and from information counters in Marina Bay area malls and office buildings.
Police and the Land Transport Authority have also worked with public and private transport operators on the traffic arrangements. Relevant Information can be found on their websites.
Police strongly encourage the public to use public transport when travelling to and from the area. We seek the public's patience and cooperation in securing everyone's safety.
Commander Traffic Police DAC Ng Guat Ting says, "Congestion and delays are expected during this period. Police have put in place several channels to inform the public of these inconveniences. We have also been working with the transport operators and management of affected buildings to facilitate traffic flow and minimise disruptions."
