SG: More City Direct Services to be introduced

Residents in Marsiling,Woodlands, Pasir Ris, Tampines East, Simei, Yew Tee and Yishun will have more options for their daily commute to and from the Central Business District, as the LTA will implement 5 addition City Direct Services from Q2 2015. This will bring the total number of CDS to 15. These buses will stop at several bus stops in the estates, but would spend the bulk of their time plying the expressways, which should mean having comparable journey times to taking a feeder bus or LRT and transferring to the MRT into the city. The LTA has called a tender to invite private bus operators to submit their cost proposals to operate the five new CDS today. The tendering process will allow the most cost-efficient operator(s) to win the rights to operate the services. It is hoped that the CDS will bolster the services provided by the 2 public transport service providers.  Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
