Mini Cooper S 1.6 Review: Eenie...MINI...mynie...Scirocco?
We fancy both of these hatches - but which one would we ultimately take home to be with for good?

Having to choose one of these cars to commit to was no easy conclusion. Both the Scirocco and the Cooper S had their own pluses and minuses. The deciding criteria then became a question. Which of these two would I commit to owning - for at least 5 years?
If I had to own either of the two, it would have to be the Scirocco. The Cooper S with its JCW tuning kit wins when it comes to handling, but in the long run, it will start losing out to the Scirocco in terms of cabin and ride quality. A permanently stiff ride that can't be adjusted would become quite tiresome when you consider that you'd be driving this car on a daily basis.
And to be quite honest, the Scirocco's very recent re-emergence in the market means that there are still very few of them on the roads, in contrast to the number of MINIs seen on a daily basis. The funky, fun little MINI has unfortunately become a tad ubiquitous - and I want to be with a car that's just extraordinary.
